PokerStars Segregated Ontario Room Approved by AGCO, Launch Could Be Imminent. The two-tiered online poker market in Ontario could end soon as the AGCO authorizes PokerStars for online poker, casino, & sports betting PokerStars has been issued a license by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) to launch regulated online poker, casino, and sports betting in Ontario, Canada’s largest province.
The approval came last week on Wednesday, June 8 , making the operator one step closer to launching its operations in the province. The regulated Ontario iGaming market went live in early April . The license is valid for two years, and the company will need to apply for renewal on June 7, 2024.
The license has been issued to TSG Interactive Canada Inc , a subsidiary of Flutter, the parent company of PokerStars, under the domain on.pokerstars.ca. The regulator has also authorized the operator’s casino and sports domains and three mobile apps — one for each iGaming vertical.
The AGCO license is just the first of the prerequisites before online gambling companies can officially launch their product in the province. PokerStars now needs to execute an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario (iGO) — which, when completed, will allow PokerStars Ontario to operate legally in the market.
