Global leader GGPoker takes on PokerStars’ SCOOP with its own Online Championship tournament series brand and with twice the guarantee of its rival. The spring season keeps getting bigger and bigger as operators join the fray with another set of massive tournament series in May.
Just weeks after GGPoker hosted the $100 million WSOP Spring Circuit Series, the world’s current leading online poker room is hosting yet another nine-figure guaranteed festival, with an all-new, GG Online Championship (GGOC).
The first-ever GGOC got underway yesterday and runs through the end of the month boasting a mammoth $150 million in prize money (though as per counts it is well over the advertised guarantee). This is the second time the operator is hosting a $150+ million series and no operator in the industry has hosted a bigger series than this.
With total guarantees of $160,800,000 — this even beats the operator’s own record of $150 million when it ran GG Spring Festival last year alongside PokerStars’ Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) that ran in April.
This year, with SCOOP returning to its old slot in May, GGPoker has slotted its own version of the Online Championship brand to take on PokerStars’ spring series. Compared to PokerStars’ series that guarantees over $75 million , the GG’s series has double the guarantees — demonstrating how GG has been dominating in the tournament field in just a few years.
“It’s great to be able to introduce a brand-new tournament series that all GGPoker players can enjoy, and the GG Online Championship is the biggest and best series ever,” said Daniel Negreanu, GGPoker Global Ambassador in a press release . “We’re doubling the guarantees seen elsewhere; players will be leaving a lot of value behind them if they don’t take full advantage at GGPoker this month!”
